When you use TalkPlaya without logging in, all session data—including your selected age group, completed cards, nightly reflection notes, and star progress—is stored exclusively on your device using browser localStorage.
This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly choose to create an account and enable cloud backup.
2. Account Creation & Cloud Sync Boundaries
If you choose to register or log in (via email magic link or third-party authentication), we collect only the minimal data required to synchronize your family voyage across multiple devices:
- Account identifier: Your email address and voluntary display name.
- Family profile metadata: Voluntary child nicknames, chosen age group (3–5, 6–8, or 8–15), and current star journey progress.
- Sync timestamps: Last active night and completion status to prevent duplicate card draws.
All cloud communication is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS 1.3 and stored on secure Cloudflare edge databases.
3. Zero Child-Facing Generative AI
Unlike open conversational AI products, TalkPlaya never exposes children directly to generative text models or automated chatbots.
All prompt cards, questions, and guides are pre-curated and reviewed by our editorial team. TalkPlaya is a tool for parents to speak with their children—not a machine to substitute for parental presence.
4. What We Never Collect
To protect minors and preserve intimate family moments, TalkPlaya strictly refrains from collecting:
- Biometric data: No facial recognition, fingerprints, or voice prints.
- Audio or video recordings: We do not request microphone or camera permissions.
- Precise location data: We do not track or store GPS coordinates.
- Behavioral ad identifiers: We do not sell user data to advertising brokers or track children across other websites.
5. Compliance with Children's Privacy Standards (COPPA & GDPR-K)
TalkPlaya is designed for parents and caregivers to facilitate bedtime routines with their children. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information directly from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area) without verifiable parental consent.
6. Parental Rights: Export and Deletion
Parents retain complete ownership and control of their family data:
- One-Click Export: You can export your entire bedtime journey history as a structured JSON file at any time directly from the Account screen.
- Instant Local Erasure: Clearing your browser history and cache will immediately wipe all locally stored TalkPlaya records from your device.
- Account Deletion: You may request full deletion of your cloud account and associated data by emailing [email protected]. We process verified deletion requests within 3 business days.
